A lot of paper is generated when homeschool students work through their assignments. Most people do not have palatial homes with huge cupboards to stuff everything into at the end of the school day. This means that it is important to organize your homeschool classroom if you do not want to be buried in the daily worksheets. Here are some storage solutions that may work out for your homeschool classroom.
Back of the Chair Pockets
If you have a dedicated homeschool classroom, this solution is a good fix for papers that are in use for the week. Make a cloth pocket on the back of each homeschool student’s chair to hold all the week’s teaching material. That way as soon as they are done with a specific subject, they simply tuck the papers back into the pocket and get out the material for the next subject. This leaves the desk relatively mess free. The pockets are just some strong cloth stitched up to hang over the back of the chair and can be easily made at home.
A Wall of Shelves
Have open shelves constructed on a single wall of the homeschool classroom. Give a shelf each to every homeschool student, reserve the top shelf for the homeschool teacher. Have other shelves dedicated to holding research material, reference books, general stationery items, and art supplies. A good wall cabinet can be a huge boon in the homeschool classroom. You can pick out ready made cabinets at a furniture store or get one custom made for the room.
Get Huge Stack-able Plastic Bins
Each bin can hold the stuff per grade which is not in current use. One bin can be used for material such as used worksheets which are not needed everyday, but may be referred to at a later date. They can all be stacked one on top of the other in a corner of the homeschool classroom. These plastic bins can take up a large amount of stuff and help de-clutter the area to a great extent. If the room is small the bins can be stored under beds as well.
